Spotlight: Icelandic women bring international presence to women's soccer
Auburn Montgomery has a big international student body, and for the soccer program, the country of Iceland may have the top spot.

On Oct. 20, students participated in the Save-A-Life Tour, a high impact alcohol awareness program that focuses on the consequences of drinking and driving. The tour is a national exhibit that travels across the country to colleges and universities. It used cutting edge technology and visual displays to communicate a powerful message about the effects of drinking and driving to students. The tour stop was funded by The Office of Student Life and the Student Government Association.

On Tuesday, Oct. 20, students filled Goodwyn Hall 109 and 112 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to participate in AUM Writes!: National Day on Writing.
Events for the day included a debut of the AUM writing portal, student writing contests, poetry readings, free t-shirts and prizes. The event gave each department the opportunity to demonstrate how writing skills are essential in all fields.
SGA plans to "Black out the capitol"
On March 4, AUM will be participating in the Higher Education rally held on the state capitol’s lawn. The SGA is encouraging students to become involved in the event and hope to meet their goal of 250 people from the school. Read More.
Greek step show raises money for breast cancer foundation
Six members of AUM's Zeta Phi Beta Sorority performed in the first annual Greek unity step show last week. The event raised $1,558 for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
The event attracted an audience of over 300, and was "considered a huge success, and created a sense of unity among the Greek associations," said Ruby Reed, a member of Zeta Phi Beta.

CAB to host 'spooktacular' Shreek Week
Starting Oct. 24, CAB invites students to join in and celebrate Halloween during Shriek Week 2009. Throughout the week, CAB has scheduled a variety of on and off campus events for students to participate in. Read More.
AUM Spotlight: Nadine Bryant, Campus Police
Her golden curls stopped at her shoulders, and resembled that of a little girl's; Her petite frame mixed with her youthful personality, shined behind the daily task of paperwork and phone calls.

Pet-a-thon helps animals in need of a home
The American Humanics Club hosted AUM's 7th annual pet-a-thon last Saturday, where people of the montgomery community joined together to volunteer, donate and adopt animals in need of a home. The event saw tremendous success, finding fourty-four animals new homes. Click here for more photos.
The Gathering at AUM brings worship to Goodwyn Hall
Students from all walks of faith joined together at The Gathering in Goodwyn Hall for one cause this week: worship. The purpose of The Gathering was to allow individuals to fellowship with other Christians, as well as get a better understanding on how other denominations worship.
Different religious organizations on campus led worship services each night, all providing uplifting praise music and lessons on faith for all who were in attendance. Baptist Campus Ministries, Grace University Fellowship, Landmark Campus Ministries, Warriors for Christ and Saints All Living Triumphantly participated in the event. Woodard, Finley take Greek god and goddess title for 2009
Last Friday, the Office of Student Life hosted the Greek god and goddess contest to wrap up Greek Week. One member from each of the nine greek organizations competed for the title of greek god and goddess. The contestants modeled togas, evening wear, and participated in a round of interviews. Kendra Finley, member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, won the title of Greek goddess 2009.
John Woodard, member of Kappa Alpha Psi, won the title of Greek god.
